Almost every home and business in Bryan-College Station and some surrounding rural areas temporarily lost power Tuesday when a transformer exploded at a Grimes County power substation.

The number of affected customers was not immediately known, but the outage went into northern Grimes County.

Texas A&M University is reportedly still without power and students have been streaming from the darkened campus to the Northgate area.
